The Pandhof of the Dom in Utrecht, also known as the "Domtuin". This cathedral has a magical "garden" with hallways around it that give a truly magical vibe and look like one of the sets of "Harry Potter", as it is a quite popular location for cosplayers. It's a free and public location, in the centre of Utrecht. I recommend to give them a call beforehand, to make sure that there isn't an event on the day you want to plan your photo shoot. Also, do plan a little extra time as people walk around. In my opinion, it's best to reach by car. You can park in a garage called "Springweg". It's not free, but for just under €16,- you can park your car for 2 hours. From there, it's only a 5 minute walk to the Dom.
Then, we went to the "Bush", a warm and with high humidity indoor location, but with a mysterious rainforest, waterfall and beautiful bridge! It was an absolute blast to make pictures here. There were countless gorgeous spots, so it was hard to choose just a few moments to show you...
Then please read along! Some of you might not believe that these places can actually be found in the Netherlands, but they really can. I've photographed about 16 weddings in the Netherlands so far and these are 3 of my favourite places. The locations are very varied from a gothic cathedral to mystic rain forest, but that's what makes my job so much fun!
First up, the wedding of Max & Laura, whom wanted their photo shoot to be in the "Bush" of... Burger's Zoo! As a lover of greens, of course I was excited. You can actually do your wedding shoot for free, but you have to make a reservation and e-mail your invitation to them. On the date itself, you also have to bring one. Their wedding took place in fall and it was raining, so we also captured some moments outside with see-through umbrella's. Which, in my opinion, can actually give a cozy vibe to photos.
Last but not least: Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam! A beautiful green surrounding with options to shoot inside and outside. It has a big greenhouse with a long bridge where you can make unique shots. Outside you can find more wonderful nature and another greenhouse/historic building. This one also has a kind of bridge, but is much harder to climb. I've only been here by car, you have to search for a spot nearby yourself, as Hortus Botanicus doesn't have its own parking. To plan your photo shoot, you have to give them a call and plan a time frame. The bride and groom need to pay their own ticket and show an invitation. The photographer can enter for free.
